The Treasure of Piramos

The children's thriller takes young readers on a search for clues through the living history of Berlin.
Edwina is 13 years old and is traveling to Berlin with her class. Her grandfather asked her to deliver a mysterious package to his former school friend Florian Schimmelpfennig. When she rings his doorbell, she has no idea that she will soon be investigating an important case.

It all starts with Florian Schimmelpfennnig saving a treasure from the former Reich Air Ministry at the end of the Second World War, which is still considered lost today. If it weren't for Edwina, who is clever and curious in search of clues. Whether it's the Nazi regime, the GDR or the fall of the Wall - Edwina's investigations are cleverly interwoven with Berlin's history and lead them to famous places such as Clärchens Ballhaus, the Sophien Cemetery or the Führerbunker.

The plot is also complemented by exciting facts. For example, in 1945 only 91 out of 3,715 animals in the Berlin zoo survived the Second World War, and in 1990 60% of all East Berlin apartments did not have their own toilet.

Collage-like illustrations and city maps invite you to visit the historical sites yourself. This makes the children's thriller not only exciting bedtime reading, but also a travel guide for everyone who wants to explore Berlin.
